President Emmanuel Macron said France preferred "respect to bullies" and "the rule of law to brutality" in a speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
 
While other European leaders have tried to keep a measured tone, Macron came out swinging after U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to impose steep tariffs if Europe does not let him take over Greenland.
 
Macron wore aviator sunglasses during his speech, which the Elysee Palace said was to protect his eyes because of a burst blood vessel.
