U.S. President Donald Trump is set to deliver a "special address" at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland on Wednesday, according to the White House.

While the Republican leader is expected to speak about economic matters suitable for the annual summit, including tariffs, it is expected that he will touch upon controversial U.S. plans to acquire Greenland.

Over the last few weeks, Trump has doubled down on his desire to annex Greenland, recently saying "you’ll find out" how far he’ll go to acquire the Danish territory. Meanwhile, Greenlandic Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen warns a U.S. invasion can’t be ruled out, even though he says it’s not likely to happen.

Trump’s latest comments and social media posts about not only Greenland, but Canada, are heightening tensions between the U.S. and Europe, with major pushback from leaders all across the world stage.
