A longtime democratic insider, Emanuel says the Trump administration betrays his family’s idea of America. In an NPR video interview, Emanuel talked of photographs on his living room wall growing up. They showed his ancestors, many of whom perished in European pogroms or the Holocaust. "We knew growing up that America was a very special place," he said. He said that idea of the country completely clashes with the spectacle of immigration agents flooding Minneapolis in recent weeks.
