Winter Storm Fern vs Cold-Climate Windows

From The Build Show.

With Winter Storm Fern hitting this weekend, we’re all going to want our windows to help keep us warm. Matt Risinger tours the next-level, high-performance institutional build designed to last hundreds of years. We’re checking out near Passive House performance, stunning wood architecture, and massive triple-pane windows by European Architectural Suuply that are so efficient they actually add heat to the building—even on a freezing day in New York.

From fire-treated oak siding and cedar accents to thermal-bridge-free detailing, motorized operable windows, and jaw-dropping walls of glass, this project proves what’s possible when craftsmanship, durability, and building science collide. Plus, Matt pulls out the FLIR thermal camera to reveal real-time temperatures and why this building can stay comfortable with minimal HVAC (even using Daikin mini-splits). If you’re into Passive House design, energy efficiency, modern architecture, and building envelope performance, this one is a must-watch!
