French lawmaker Sandrine Josso and former senator Joel Guerriau arrive at the Paris criminal court for the opening of the trial of the former Loire‑Atlantique senator, accused of drugging the MP with ecstasy in order to rape her. In a case often described as emblematic of chemical submission — a societal scourge on which Sandrine Josso has been highly active politically since the events — the possible sexual motive, denied by Joel Guerriau, is expected to be at the centre of intense debate in court.
