Prime Minister Mark Carney called the contributions of Canadian Armed Forces in Afghanistan "extraordinary." Nearly 160 soldiers were killed during the 13-year campaign, which saw NATO troops fight against Taliban forces from 2001 to 2014.

Carney’s remark comes after U.S. President Donald Trump minimized NATO forces’ contributions last Friday, saying "they stayed a little back, a little off the front lines," in an interview with Fox News.
