“We’re devastated”: Storm Chandra fills Ireland streets with floodwater

From Global News.

Storm Chandra brought flooding to parts of the United Kingdom and Ireland on Tuesday, as strong winds and heavy rain swept across the region.

Local media reported that more than 15,000 homes and businesses lost power on both sides of the Irish border, with weather warnings in place in both jurisdictions.

"We’re devastated that nobody came. Our friends and family helped us and that was about it," a resident of Bunclody, Ireland, Diane Dorman said.

Several roads and schools were closed, while public transport services were disrupted. Belfast’s Lanyon Place rail station shut due to the conditions, and Irish Rail suspended services between Eniscorthy and Wexford, media reports said.
