France supports the reinforcement of the defence in the Arctic, French President Emmanuel Macron said on Wednesday, ahead of a meeting with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and Greenlandic Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen.

Macron also expressed support for Greenland, trying his hand in Greenlandic and Danish as he stood between their two prime ministers.

Saying the world order was changing or even had already changed, Frederiksen said, "We need a stronger Europe than ever."

"It’s time for unity, not division," Nielsen said, mentioning that "Our close cooperation in this situation is not only about Greenland, it goes beyond Greenland.
