The full cost to cull more than 300 ostriches in the West Kootenay last fall has been revealed for the first time.

As Global’s Klaudia Van Emmerik reports, the months-long battle cost taxpayers almost $7 million.

The ostriches at the Universal Ostrich Farm in Edgewood, B.C., were culled in November 2025, following an unsuccessful legal challenge from the farm to prevent the cull.
