The world’s first underwater greenhouses | DW Documentary

From DW Documentary.

Could underwater farms be a sustainable alternative to traditional agriculture? 🌊🌱 Nemo’s Garden started in 2012. Since then, all kinds of herbs, fruits, vegetables and even mushrooms have been grown there.🍄‍🟫 The underwater domes provide plants with a safe and stable environment – constant light and no pests or no significant changes in temperature, which is especially important considering the impacts of climate change. The domes themselves are also durable and can provide a safe haven for marine life. 🐡 However, setting up and managing these greenhouses is expensive, which also increases the cost of the products. And scaling up in an environment like this isn’t easy. But the team at Nemo’s Garden hopes to contribute to long-term solutions towards more sustainable agriculture.

Would you eat food grown underwater in the sea? 🍓
