For centuries, riders have been using bits to control their horses, some more harsh than others. Then, when medieval thought began to merge with the scientific revolution in the 16th century, more care was given to war horses when developing their mouthpieces. At @metmuseum , assistant curator Marina Viallon walks Adam Savage through some extreme examples of horse bits, each a master class in making in themselves.
