As the CUSMA review nears, the federal government says it’s in talks with Meta to overturn a ban on Canadian news on Facebook and Instagram. The 2023 ban came in response to legislation that would require tech giants to pay news outlets for content shared on their platforms. Journalist Carmi Levy says reversing the ban could protect Canadians from the spread of disinformation.
