At the 2026 Davos summit, US President Trump’s son in law set out plans for the Gaza Strip that would see it rebuilt as a luxury resort. Devastated by two years of war with Israel, an estimated 60 million tonnes of rubble covers much of the territory, and Gazans face daily struggles to access food and clean water, even while the Israeli military continues to carry out strikes and other operations. What are the challenges of rebuilding Gaza, what would it mean for the people who live there, and are plans for a resort on the shores of the Mediterranean really feasible?
