‘Not illegal’: Analyst fact checks Trump’s aircraft certification claims

U.S. President Donald Trump is accusing Ottawa of blocking the certification of a series of jets made by U.S. company Gulfstream. In a TruthSocial post, Trump threatened to ‘decertify’ all Canadian aircraft and levy 50 per cent tariffs on Canadian-made planes in retaliation. He also called out aerospace company Bombardier by name.

John Gradek is a lecturer on aviation management at McGill and told the CBC there’s nothing illegal with how Canada certifies its planes.
