Protesters gathered outside a detention facility on Sunday after five-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos and his father, Adrian Conejo Arias, legal asylum applicants from Ecuador, were released by court order following a controversial immigration raid in Minnesota.

"Democracy in the United States has fallen, all because of a dictator. I call him a dictator. To me, he’s a dictator," said a protester.

Community members bearing gifts and balloons gathered in a Minneapolis suburb to welcome home a five-year-old boy.

"We’re here to show our love and support for Liam being back to Minnesota, being released from everything that he’s been through," Brenda Marquez said and added that "this is going to be a trauma for Liam."
