From Global News.
U.S. President Donald Trump says the United States and India have agreed to a new trade deal, with Washington lowering its reciprocal tariff on Indian goods from 25 per cent to 18 per cent. Trump made the announcement in a Truth Social post after a call with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
"The trade deal that has been finalized with the United States of America is the best among all our neighbouring countries and all the nations that compete with us," said Indian Trade Minister Piyush Goyal.
Indians lauded the trade deal, with at least one person calling it a "win-win" for both countries.
Meanwhile, lawmakers of Modi’s opposition held demonstrations outside parliament in New Delhi, demanding clarity about the deal asking, "are we going to stop buying from every other country and only buy from America?"
