From AFP News Agency.
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer says he "regrets" appointing Peter Mandelson as US Ambassador, saying "if I knew then what I know now, he would never have been anywhere near government". Starmer says Mandelson, who was sacked as UK ambassador to the US over his links to the late sex-offender Jeffrey Epstein, "betrayed our country, our parliament and my party". The Metropolitan Police has launched an investigation into allegations that Mandelson passed on sensitive government information to Epstein as business secretary under former British PM Gordon Brown.
