Wednesday concluded the first day of the second round of U.S.-brokered peace talks between Russia and Ukraine in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates. The trilateral negotiations will continue into Thursday, with Ukraine’s position prioritizing security guarantees.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio claimed great progress had been made through negotiations over the past year, but a breakthrough in the talks may be far off as the remaining items are the most contentious.
