Where did the tips go? BC restaurants say thousands missing from third-party account

Many restaurants in British Columbia and across the country say their tips have disappeared from a third-party program used to manage them.

Matthew Upton, owner of the restaurant Broken Seal, says he uses Every Payments — a platform that distributes tips to his workers.

Last Wednesday, the money was emptied, and extra withdrawals were made without warning.

Affected restaurant owners say not only is the money missing but they haven’t been able to get hold of anyone from the company.
