From trash to trend — at Nairobi Fashion Week, designers turn old threads into high fashion, proving sustainability can be runway‑ready and proudly African. “Mitumba,” or second‑hand clothing, is hugely popular in Kenya, and it took center stage at this year’s event. With the theme “Decarbonize,” the showcase put the spotlight on slow fashion, conscious production, and upcycling.
