Reverend Jesse Jackson, the civil rights icon who marched with Martin Luther King has died at 84. Obama called him "a true giant." Trump called him "a force of nature" and then somehow made it about himself.

In Geneva, US envoys are running two sets of peace talks simultaneously; one with Iran on nukes, one with Russia and Ukraine on ending the war. Lindsey Graham says Trump will make a decision on Iran in weeks, not months. Meanwhile back home, the government is partially shut down.

DHS ran out of funding Saturday after Democrats demanded ICE reforms following two American citizens being shot dead by immigration agents in Minneapolis. ICE isn’t affected though, they got 75 billion from the Big Beautiful Bill. TSA agents are working without pay.
Congress left for vacation.

Trump confirmed he’ll deliver the State of the Union next week, shutdown or not.
Democrats are planning protests inside the chamber. And at the Winter Olympics, Team USA women’s hockey crushed Sweden 5-0 to make the gold medal game.
