The Rev. Al Sharpton spoke about his long friendship with Rev. Jesse Jackson at a press conference in New York on Tuesday. The two met when Sharpton was 13 and first becoming involved in civil rights activism through the church.

Sharpton said Jackson’s tireless work was not only an inspiration to his career, it was also vital to keeping the civil rights movement alive.
