Do you remember the ball-wheeled bike I built? It balances sideways like a Segway and it can move in all directions. I used three omni-wheels per ball so they can be driven any way I want based on the mix of velocities at each wheel. I could lean to go sideways or drive forwards and backwards, or rotate on the spot by driving the balls in various directions, so it was truly omni-directional.

Yep – it’s time for a one-ball-bike, is it even a bike though?
So this time it’s going to need to balance forwards and backwards as well as sideways. There are a few extra challenges, like how to turn to steer, and also making omni-wheels strong enough, because there are only three this time and not six, and these need to support me on top.
