The relationship between Dario Amodei, the CEO of artificial intelligence company Anthropic, and the Trump administration is now at risk over a dispute regarding AI restrictions.

Anthropic is currently the only learning language model (LLM) being used in classified U.S. networks and has denied the U.S. military from using its technology for autonomous weaponry and domestic surveillance.

Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth is threatening to label the company as a supply chain risk, effectively banning it from working with the government or invoking the Defence Production Act to force Anthropic to give in.

Reuters reports a Pentagon source says Anthropic has until 5 p.m. eastern time Friday to respond to Hegseth’s requests. Nathaniel Dove has more.
