China slams ‘Shen Yun’ after threats to dance troupe forces Australia PM to evacuate

From Global News.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese was evacuated from his residence in Canberra late on Tuesday following a security threat, and returned a few hours later after nothing suspicious was found, ABC News reported.

"A thorough search of a protection establishment was undertaken and nothing suspicious was located. There is no current threat to the community or public safety," an Australian Federal Police spokesperson said in a statement.

China on Wednesday said the Shen Yun classical dance troupe, which has been linked to a bomb threat against Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, is "by no means a normal cultural activity but rather a political tool used by the Falun Gong movement to spread cult information and amass wealth."

A bomb scare at Albanese’s home originated from written threats directed at a Chinese dance and music group banned by Beijing.

In emails seen by local media and the BBC, performers of the Shen Yun group were told to cancel their upcoming Australian shows or risk explosives being detonated at Albanese’s official residence in the nation’s capital.
