The B.C. Conservative Party has accused the NDP Government of a healthcare failure it claims may have cost a young Okanagan man his life.
22-year-old Ezra Cool died shortly after leaving the Vernon Hospital, where he was being treated for mental health issues.
Ezra was struck and killed in a hit-and-run after he tried to flee from the hospital six days after he had been involuntarily admitted under the Mental Health Act.
"He needed help and he didn’t get it," said Christal Cool, Ezra’s mother.
As Victoria Femia reports, the opposition party is asking if staffing issues at the hospital played a role in this deadly negligence.
