Once again, the Fallout TV show introduces a piece of technology with planet-destroying potential, this time a mysterious “cold fusion diode” in the Season 2 finale. Mr. House claims that if the device expelled all of its energy at once, the damage could extend to other planets. But does that make any scientific sense? Well, no. It’s finale time (see what I did there) to explain what nuclear fusion actually is, why fusion reactors are considered inherently safe, and why shooting a miniaturized fusion core wouldn’t cause a solar system-ending explosion. Sorry Mr. House, but science always wins.
