From Global News.
India and Canada will aim to conclude a free trade pact by the end of this year, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said on Monday during his first visit to New Delhi, as the two countries seek to move past years of diplomatic friction to get economic ties back on track.
"There has been more engagement between the Canadian and the Indian governments in the last year than there has been in more than two decades combined," said Carney and added, "We are advancing towards a Canada-India comprehensive economic partnership agreement, with the aim to conclude it by the end of this year."
They also agreed on a $2.6 billion uranium deal and will work on building small modular nuclear reactors and advanced reactors.
Carney added that they’ve launched the new Canada-India Talent and Innovation Strategy, "with 13 new partnerships to deepen our ties in education." And this includes collaborations involving McGill, the University of Toronto, and the University of British Columbia to work across artificial intelligence, health sciences, and digital architecture.
