Can UK avoid being drawn into US-Israel offensive in Iran? | BBC News

From BBC News.

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has insisted the UK will not join offensive action in Iran.

But – he has agreed to a US request to use British military bases for "defensive" strikes on Iranian missile sites.

It comes after a weekend of conflict, with the US and Israel launching widespread strikes on Saturday targeting Iran’s missile infrastructure, military sites and senior leaders. Iran has responded by launching missiles and drones across the Middle East.

The UK prime minister said Britain had learned lessons from the "mistakes of Iraq", and was not involved in the initial strikes on Iran and "will not join offensive action now".
