A growing number of women are being drawn by international criminal networks into Albania from impoverished countries on the promise of lucrative sex work and a potential gateway to Europe.
Instead many find themselves trapped in Albanian detention, as anyone engaging in prostitution in the country, if not considered a trafficking victim, can be sentenced to up to three years in prison.
