Donald Trump has fired his embattled Homeland Security Secretary. This is just two days after Kristi Noem faced a grilling from Republicans and Democrats on Capitol Hill. She refused to retract her description of two Minnesotans killed by federal agents as ‘domestic terrorists’, despite the sustained and heavy criticsm she faced over federal immigration enforcement tactics. Posting on social media the US president said he’d given Ms Noem a new job as "special envoy for The Shield of the Americas": a new security initiative. Her old job as Homeland Security Secretary goes to Oklahoma Republican senator Markwayne Mullin.
