Global National: March 7, 2026 | Trump to intensify attacks, Iran rejects “unconditional surrender”

Air raid sirens are sounding over Tel Aviv as Iran launches new missile and drone strikes, targeting not only Israel, but neighbouring nations as well. Retaliating after new U.S.-Israeli strikes pummelled Tehran. Qatar and the United Arab Emirates have also been attacked. And tens of thousands are fleeing Beirut after U.S.-Israeli strikes hit Lebanon’s capital. U.S. President Donald Trump said on Saturday that he would intensify attacks on Iran, escalating his threats as the war entered its second week and after Iran’s president rejected Trump’s call for “unconditional surrender.” Jeff Semple reports.

More than 200 Canadians have left the Middle East today, after the federal government secured seats on chartered and commercial flights for citizens wanting to leave the region. At Toronto’s Pearson International Airport, there were emotional reunions as around 50 Canadians were welcomed home from Dubai. But there are more than 100,000 Canadians currently registered in the Middle East. Jillian Piper has the latest.

As the war with Iran shows no signs of letting up, questions remain about how long the fighting will last and if the U.S. will be drawn into another lengthy ground war like the one with Afghanistan or Iraq. A former U.S. Intelligence officer who spent years countering Iran says the conditions for a smooth regime change do exist. Jackson Proskow reports.
