North Korea has held an election for the Supreme People’s Assembly to select delegates to the legislature that formally approves state policy and appoints the country’s top officials, state-run television KRT reports. The Kim family has maintained near‑total control of North Korea since its founding after World War Two and experts say that fear of being seen as anti‑revolutionary drives strong displays of loyalty to the leader.
