Parts of British Columbia were put under a flood watch Monday after an atmospheric river hit the south coast, bringing heavy rain and high winds.

Up to 250 millimetres of rain is expected in some areas by Wednesday.

The River Forecast centre says the flood risk in the coastal regions of B.C. are likely to rise as the atmospheric river moves across the province throughout the week.
