Guerrero State Police and the Mexican army patrol the area around a burned public transport van attacked on the Acapulco–Zihuatanejo Federal Highway in Mexico. The armed attack left one dead and seven injured, according to authorities. Acapulco, located on Mexico’s Pacific coast, has for years been ravaged by violence linked to criminal gangs fighting over drug-trafficking routes. In addition, the city faces street-level drug dealing and extortion.
