What Trump told PBS News in a one-on-one call

From PBS NewsHour.

President Donald Trump told PBS News White House correspondent Liz Landers that Iran wants "to make a deal, but they’re not ready to make a deal, in my opinion," after two weeks of U.S. and Israeli strikes on the country.

The president spoke to Landers during a brief one-on-one phone call Monday morning.

Trump also threatened additional U.S. military strikes on Kharg Island, a main hub for Iran’s oil exports. "I told them openly — I’ll knock the hell out of it," he said.

When discussing oil prices, he said they "will drop like a rock" as soon as the war with Iran is over.

Landers asked whether U.S. troops will be on the ground in Iran. Trump responded, "I don’t want to say that."

When Landers asked the president if his thinking has changed on ground troops, he said, "No, it’s not changed, but I just don’t want to talk about that, because I’m not gonna talk about strategy with a reporter. O.K.?"
