The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most strategically important choke points, with roughly 20 per cent of the world’s oil and liquefied natural gas passing through the region every year.

With Iran continuing its blockade of the Strait, Canada has promised to increase its production of oil to help stabilize the world’s supply.

But as Heather Yourex-West explains, the boost isn’t expected to help lower gas prices.
