Energy regulator predicts Canada won’t meet Trudeau era 2050 net-zero targets

From Global News.

A new report from Canada’s energy regulator offers a glimpse into the future of Canada’s energy supply.

The report projects that electricity demand will grow substantially into 2050, while Canadian oil and gas will remain reliant on deliveries from the U.S.

As Mackenzie Gray explains, the report raises concerns about Canada’s ability to meet the 2050 net-zero emissions goal.

The target was set by former prime minister Justin Trudeau’s government through the passage of Bill C-12 in June 2021.
