Birinder Singh, 22, had a day off work and was headed out on a trip with friends to see Banff, Alta. for the first time, when his life was abruptly ended in a drive-by shooting that left many with questions.

“I don’t know why they did it,” a friend who was in the car with Singh during the weekend shooting said.

He was one of two childhood friends that met with Global News on Tuesday, asking not to be identified, because they fear for their safety while the shooter(s) remain at large.

RCMP say investigators have not gathered enough information yet to determine whether the shooting was random or targeted.
