‘Reckless!’ Inside Trump’s controversial clemency spree freeing criminals

From MSNBC.

MS NOW is launching a series examining Trump’s puzzling clemency decisions, which experts say amount to the most random and reckless use of that awesome presidential power in American history. The president has granted pardons or commutations to a long list of corrupt politicians and convicted fraudsters. In our first piece, we look at the case of David Gentile, who was found guilty in 2024 of what prosecutors say was a billion-dollar fraud that victimized as many as seventeen thousand investors. Gentile was just 12 days into his prison term in December when Trump granted him clemency, commuting his sentence and setting him free. Left picking up the pieces are victims like CarolAnn Tutera, a retiree from Arizona who lost hundreds of thousands in life savings.
