At an event with the Inter Miami soccer team inside the White House Thursday, President Donald Trump said Tehran attempted to contact the United States about making a deal amid the escalating conflict in the Middle East.

“They’re saying, ‘how do we make a deal?’ I said, ‘you’re being a little bit late.’ And now we want to fight more than they do.” Trump said.

The president touted the U.S. military actions in Iran, suggesting Iran’s missile and drone capability had been destroyed and their navy is “gone – 24 ships in three days.”

Trump also urged Iranian diplomats across the globe to request asylum and all members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard to lay down their weapons so they would be given “total immunity” and to be on the “right side of history,” as they “shape a new and better Iran.”
