“A modern CANZUK”: Pierre Poilievre pitches policy ideas to Canada’s closest allies

From Global News.

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre spoke at the Centre for Policy Studies in London Tuesday to pitch his vision for a new set of relationships that would go beyond existing trade deals and boost co-operation – should he become prime minister.

“The time has come for a partnership between Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand. A modern CANZUK; a pact that opens our economies.” Poilievre said.

The plan promotes “automatic professional recognition” for certain professions, such as doctors or nurses. This would mean that credentials earned in one country would be accepted by all that participate.

As David Akin reports, this is the first time Poilievre has gone overseas since he became Opposition leader in 2022.
