“A really powerful moment”: Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs sentenced to 50 months

From Global News.

Sean “Diddy” Combs has been sentenced to just over four years in prison, three months after he was found guilty of two counts of prostitution.

Combs was given 50 months in prison and a fine of US$500,000, the maximum possible, for his conviction on federal prostitution-related offences. He will also be under five years’ supervised release after his time in prison is served.

“This is a really powerful moment to hear that Sean Combs was sentenced to four years and two months. I am somewhat surprised that it was that short a sentence, but it also reflects what victims have wanted, what the general populace wanted, which is that, you know, folks will have to have some comeuppance for enacting, you know, crimes of this nature,” said Christopher Edmin, author of ‘Urban Science Education for the Hip-Hop Generation.’

Combs’ defence team said it was “a very bad day” and added that they plan to appeal the sentence.
