Spring water is so important to Saratoga, it’s even in the city’s name, Saratoga Springs. Richard Trethewey pays a visit to High Rock Spring—to learn about nature’s plumbing under the founding spring of Saratoga. There he meets Ken Chaisson who explains the origins of this spring, the science of the water, and some history of the water’s draw. Then the two visit Spa State Park where we learn about how each of the areas many springs are different from one another. Finally, they end at the Roosevelt Bath House—a newly renovated spa that has been a popular destination since the early 1900s. The spa’s baths are fed with water from one of the springs.
