From Global News.
A rare tropical cyclone has brought severe flooding and landslides to Indonesia’s Sumatra island, damaging homes, roads and vehicles as water surged through several districts.
“Compared to previous years, we’re seeing people’s homes being swept away, rice fields destroyed,” said Aceh resident Jamaluddin.
Rescue teams are facing collapsed bridges, mud-covered roads and power outages, slowing efforts to reach residents trapped in upper floors or cut-off areas.
Authorities say at least 60 people have died across the region, with dozens still missing and tens of thousands affected or displaced as evacuations continue.
