From Global News.
Following strikes on Iran Saturday is disrupting flights across the Middle East and beyond, as regional airspaces began closing, leaving thousands of travellers across the globe stranded on Sunday.
Flight maps showed airspace over Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Israel and Bahrain virtually empty as Israel said it struck Iran and the U.S. military initiated a series of strikes against targets in the country. Iran retaliated with a salvo of missiles.
“The phone hotline is completely overloaded. We can’t reach anyone, actually. It’s not going so well at the moment. We hope that we’ll get some help here now.” One passenger headed for Australia said in Frankfurt.
The unrest follows joint U.S.-Israeli missile strikes across Iran on Saturday that killed Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
