Austin shooting press conference: 6th Street bar shooting has ‘potential nexus to terrorism’

At least three people are dead, including a suspect, following a shooting at a bar in Austin early Sunday, March 1. It is being investigated by the FBI as a "potential" act of terrorism.

Austin Police said that two people were killed in the shooting, and Austin Police Chief Lisa Davis confirmed at a news conference that the suspect was killed by police. Davis said that the suspect circled the Buford’s Backyard Beer Garden several times in an SUV just before 2 a.m. local time, stopped and then fired a pistol from the car. He then parked and exited the vehicle and continued shooting with the pistol and then a rifle.
