Conservatives and Liberals each accused the other of obstruction on the topic of extortion in British Columbia during question period on Wednesday, with Conservative MP Tamara Jensen saying police had been in her driveway over the weekend “investigating reports of shots fired on my street.”
“Will this government stop with the rhetoric, restore mandatory minimums and repeal their catch and release laws so criminals feel the consequences?” Jensen asked.
Secretary of State (Combatting Crime) Ruby Sahota accused the Conservatives of obstructing Bill C-2, it’s so-called “lawful access” legislation,” that she said would give law enforcement the tools needed to fight extortion.
Conservative MP Michael Guglielmin, in turn, accused Liberals of obstructing legislation on bail reform and mandatory minimums.
