From Global News.
The B.C. government is seeking a stay on the B.C. Supreme Court’s Cowichan land title decision.
It comes as hundreds of Richmond landowners packed an information session organized by the city Thursday to demand answers about what the ruling means for them — and their land.
In August, the court ruled that the Cowichan Nation holds Aboriginal title to a 750-hectare parcel of land along the Fraser River in South Richmond.
Many residents expressed frustration over the uncertainty surrounding the decision. And, as Dan Spector reports, B.C. Premier David Eby says his government is working to file an application for a stay.
