Canadians divided on whether US military action is a realistic threat: poll

From Global News.

New Ipsos polling conducted for Global News found Canadians evenly divided on whether U.S. military action against Canada is a realistic possibility, a sharp shift from attitudes seen just a year ago.

The survey showed women and Gen Z were more likely to believe an attack was possible, while men and baby boomers were more confident the United States would not take military action.

Fewer than half of respondents believed Canada could defend itself without assistance, though most expressed confidence that NATO allies would come to Canada’s aid in a hypothetical invasion.

On leadership, Canadians said they trusted Prime Minister Mark Carney more than Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre to handle a potential military threat, according to Ipsos.
